FROM THE 2025 “WARM SPRING” INITIATIVE, A COMMUNITY HOUSE IS INAUGURATED IN THE MOUNTAINS OF SI MA CAI
At the beginning of 2025, when many communities in the northern highlands were still struggling to recover from the severe losses caused by Typhoon Yagi, Newton Grammar School launched the charity program Warm Spring. The initiative carried with it compassion, warmth, and the spirit of sharing from the school’s administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and students to Primary School No. 2 in Si Ma Cai and to disadvantaged families in Nan San Commune, Si Ma Cai District (formerly part of Lao Cai Province, now within Yen Bai Province).

At the project site, in addition to delivering essential gifts to teachers and students facing hardship, and through the coordination of the Si Ma Cai Border Guard Post and the People’s Committee of Nan San Commune, the school allocated part of the Newton Charity Fund to support the construction of a community house for the family of Ms. Sung Thi Tung. Her family was among the most severely affected, as their home was destroyed by landslides and completely lost after Typhoon Yagi.

After the construction period, the new house has now been completed. Sturdy and welcoming amidst the mountains of Si Ma Cai, it stands as a testament to the strength of compassion and community solidarity. This new home will provide Ms. Tung’s family with safety and stability as they rebuild their lives and welcome future spring seasons with renewed hope.

Newton Grammar School extends its heartfelt gratitude to all students, teachers, staff members, and parents for their continued support of the school’s charitable efforts. It is your generosity and kindness that help spread compassion and bring deeper meaning to every charitable journey undertaken by the Newton community.
