NEWTON CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2025: A SEASON OF INTELLECT AND CHARACTER
Recently, the fourth-floor auditorium of Newton Grammar School became a true arena of intellect as the Newton Chess Championship 2025 officially took place, bringing together hundreds of players from the Primary, Lower Secondary, and Upper Secondary levels.

The atmosphere was vibrant and intense, yet full of sportsmanship. Across the chessboards, students demonstrated determination and the characteristic resilience of Newtonians, who may be young in age but possess notable intelligence and strong willpower.
The school placed great emphasis on the organization and professionalism of every competition. This year, with the support of referees and coaches from the Vinh Phuc Chess Club, a member of the Vietnam Chess Federation, the tournament delivered a highly positive and memorable experience for all participants.

Competitors played five rapid-chess rounds, with each player having ten minutes plus a five-second increment per move, following current regulations of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training of Vietnam.
After hours of intense matches, the most outstanding players in each category emerged, marking their journey of effort and passion for this intellectual sport.

Beyond being a healthy competitive playground, the tournament was also an opportunity for Newton students to develop critical thinking, concentration, and perseverance, which are essential qualities for success in both learning and life. With its spirit of fair play, the Newton Chess Championship 2025 truly became a celebration of intellect, where every student had the opportunity to shine and affirm their abilities.
